CCR Question #2 Research
Hello everyone! Today, I’m going to be discussing the second question of the CCR, since you can see the discussion for the first question in one of my previous blogs. The question is “How does you product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?”. To answer this question, I have to break it down first, since it has two parts: how does my product engage with audiences, and how would it be distributed.
Engage with audiences
“The Awakening” is going to engage with the audiences by providing a scene that’s not solved yet. This would be the “why” of why was Maverick tied up on that chair, and what he means with the phone call that he does. The audiences stay engaged because they want to know WHY was Maverick kidnapped, WHY did he say that “he’s” back, and WHO the villain is. This turns the audience into some kind of detective, who’s not just trying to watch a film, but also they are trying to solve a mystery, filled with action, and suspense.
The audience of this film is going to be young adults, between the ages of approximately 15-40 years old. They are mostly males that live a normal lifestyle. This audience does engage in the opening in the way that I said in the previous paragraph, because they o and
Distribution
To understand this question, you have to 100% understand what distribution is, and thanks to my teacher, Ms. Stoklosa, I had everything I needed to know about distribution right when I needed it. First of all, distribution is “the process of making a product available to audiences”. To distribute a product, a distributor is needed. They are the ones who market and make the product available to audiences, and they are usually companies.
I would like the film to ”The Awakening to be distributed by digital distribution, because I feel that it’s one of the most used and effective methods today. I would specifically like to distribute my film through AVOD, or Advertising-Based Video On Demand. This means that my film is going to be offered free, in platforms such as YouTube, or Tubi, but with ads that play throughout the reproduction. This is going to be a great way to get my film into broad audiences, in an “easy” way. Some of the pros of AVOD, according to LA Film School, are that
- it has a “low barrier for entry for filmmakers”
- Wide exposure without a lot of marketing needed
- Global reach, with no fees for distribution.
- It has a lower revenue potential compared to SVOD (Subscription Video On Demand) and TVOD (Transactional Video On Demand)
- Dependent on number of ads watched, which may fluctuate
- Limited control over how your film i presented alongside ads
